Interdisciplinary dialogue during exhibition mounting. The balance between appreciation and conservation
On the occasion of the International Day for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, we invite you to participate in a round table in a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy coffee and pastries. We will have the interventions of Carmen Pereira and Priscila Lemhann (Bombas Gens Centre d’Art), the artist Inma Femenía, Victoria Vivancos (professor at the UPV) and Antoni Colomina (Director of the Department of Fund and Heritage of the UPV) as moderator.
The exhibition installation often becomes a transcendental moment that is very directly linked to the artist’s creative act. It is a critical phase in which different professional profiles participate, who, together with the artist, must attend to non-programmed decisions that deserve a specific process of resolution.
In this context, in an environment of risk and uncertainty, the decision-making process must consider the criteria of curatorship, technical assembly, exhibition coordination and conservation, with different positions that must end up finding consensus in order to link artistic intentionality with an appropriate exhibition. In short, function and conservation struggle in a tug-of-war that must be kept in constant balance, with two sides that may conflict on many occasions but which are predestined to yield and understand each other.
