This exhibition, co-organized by Pirelli HangarBincocca (Milan) and Bombas Gens Centre d’Art (Valencia), showcases more than twenty years of Sheela Gowda’s artistic production. Sheela Gowda (born in Bhadravati, Karnataka, India, 1957, lives and works in Bangalore) has developed her practice through a constant dialog and exchange between local artistic traditions and international forms of art. Remains, the artist’s first solo exhibition in Spain, brings together installations and sculptures as well as a selection of works based on images, ranging from different periods and constructed using various materials and scales. This exhibition allows you to discover more than twenty years of Sheela Gowda’s artistic production from the nineties until today, through a series of installations, sculptures, and collages. A poetic and political practice based on a reflexive and perceptive vision of the world is displayed, accompanied by an awareness of the symbolic and communicative value of matter, objects and their remains. This selection of works also conveys the commitment to the process of definition and abstraction of the form as a generator of meaning.
